The harness pad covers are not a safety feature and are included for child comfort. You can remove the harness pad covers for cleaning or to obtain a tighter fit of the harness as this will not affect the performance of the carrier.
As part of the current i-Size standard you cannot install the Mesa i-Size base with the seat belt. The Mesa i-Size Base can only be attached with the ISOfix system. ISOfix installation reduces the risk of incorrect installation by providing a solid, fixed connection between the car seat and the vehicle body.

Yes, you can install the Mesa i-Size carrier with a car’s seat belt. This is a good option for convenience when traveling by taxi or ride share. When possible, we recommend using the Mesa i-Size carrier on the Mesa i-Size Base to achieve the highest, i-Size compliant safety performance.
Yes, you may install the Mesa i-Size carrier with base on the front passenger seat if that seat has ISOFIX anchor points and is i-Size approved. It is critical that you deactivate the airbag. Please refer to our Car Fitting List for more information and check that your vehicle seat position is approved.

The i-Size regulation mandates that a child must be transported rear facing until 15 months. The Mesa i-Size is rated to 78 cm and a maximum weight of 13 kg. When transitioning from the Mesa i-Size to your next car seat solution follow the i-Size regulation and choose another rear facing child safety seat.

The harness and integrated headrest easily adjust from the front. Simply pull the tab at the top of the headrest and slide the headrest and harness to the desired position for proper fit. The harness should be situated as close to the child’s shoulders as possible for a proper fit.
The Mesa i-Size is designed with a single button release on top of the carry handle.
You cannot use your US Mesa in the EU/UK, as you must use an appropriate child seat for the specific market that conforms to the United Nations standard, ECE Regulation 44/03 or ECE 44/04, or is approved under R129 (also known as i-Size). The seat must also be suitable for the child’s height and weight and is correctly fitted according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Only an EU/UK approved car seat can be used in the EU/UK. Child car seats approved outside of the EU/UK cannot be used in the EU/UK.
Similarly, you cannot use the Mesa i-Size for travel in the US or Canada as you must use a seat that meets FMVSS213 and CAVSS213 regulations for car seats.

If your carrier was not in the vehicle during the accident it is still safe to use. You will need to purchase a new Mesa i-Size Base for use with your Mesa i-Size carrier.
A seat that has been involved in an accident must not be used again. After an accident you cannot be certain that the seat is still safe, even if you can’t see any damage. Damage to the seat may be internal and as a result, the seat may not function properly. Please contact your insurance company for more information regarding seat replacement.

Yes! Both the Mesa i-Size carrier and Base need to be registered separately. Child restraints can be recalled for a variety of safety reasons. - The canopy, seat cover, buckle cover and shoulder pads are all machine washable. Machine was in cold water on gently cycle with mild detergent. Dry flat and away from direct sunlight.

As with any parts of the Mesa i-Size DO not use bleach, solvents or harsh chemicals on the seat or base.

The Mesa i-Size complies to R129, commonly referred to as i-Size. i-Size was implemented to advance car seat safety by making child car seats easier to fit, providing better protection in side impact crashes and keeping children rear facing longer to a mandatory 15 months.
You can remove the infant insert at approximately 3 months or when the child reaches 60 cm in height. If you find that the harness becomes too tight before this time you can remove and assess the fit of your child in the seat. Make sure to adjust the headrest to the proper position so that the harness straps rest at or below your child’s shoulders.
